John Kingston is the Director of Global Market Insights for S&P Global. In this position, as part of the company's team of global economists, he works to identify significant market and industry trends affecting the mission of S&P Global, as well as producing content and forums that can share knowledge across the company's four units and demonstrate that expertise to the world. In late 2016, he convened the first S&P Global Blockchain Task Force as the company began to look at how distributed ledger technology might impact S&P Global's various activities. He is now part of a smaller working group at S&P Global that continues to look at that issue. John joined the corporate team at what is now S&P Global in early 2015, after an almost 30-year career at Platts, the company's energy news and pricing division. He served for a year as President of the company's Institute, before taking on his dual role of Director of Global Market Insights full time. At Platts, he held numerous positions over the years as the company grew tremendously, serving as both Director of News and Director of Oil, where he presented--and continues to do so--on oil markets before audiences and on numerous media outlets. Prior to joining Platts, John worked for American Metal Market and for newspapers in New Jersey and Virginia. He is a graduate of Washington & Lee University.
